OUTSTANDING JAPANESE ROSEWOOD
SCREEN |
With truly beautifully executed
in a fine rosewood frame with 4 lacquered double sided panels decorated with
raised lacquered birds and flower and carved ivory mums. The large mum
flowers are bronzed lacquer on red ground with the tops of the two end panels
having intaglio cut song bird on branch with berries and second with two
geese in flight preparing to land on a reed covered pond; 61.75”high x
80”long. |

OUTSTANDING CHINESE LACQUERED
CABINET |
Circa 1870 with wonderfully
chased silver hinges and drawer pulls. The two part double sided case has
black lacquered body with red lacquered panels, inlaid with high relief
carved ivory, tortious shell and a variety of different types of MOP. The
central part has bank of 6 drawers all with butterflies in flight with two
sliding paneled doors to cover the drawers inlaid with cranes and other birds
on flowing tree branches, while the flanking panels have flowering branches
with song birds in ivory and MOP, over one large drawer with numerous cranes
at a pond with flowers, and lily pads. The sides have two hinged inlaid with
birds and water plants, over panel with similar inlay. Case edges inlaid with
silver wire and stylized floral in MOP, as is the separate base with ogee
bracket feet. The top and carved scrolled ends, 45”high x 48”long x 26”deep.
All interiors are lacquered. |

CHINESE 4-PANEL ROOM SCENE |
With black and red lacquered
ground with carved hardstone and ivory figures. Each of the panels has two
scenes with larger upper scene with Chinese figures in landscapes with faces,
arms and legs in carved ivory, clothing in a variety of hardstones and lacquer,
lower panel with ivory and hardstone horse, tiger, rabbits and antlered deer,
all bordered with red lacquered dragons, lower panel with birds and plants,
reverse with fine painting on lacquer of butterflies and mums at top and
bamboo below, 72”high x 64”wide. |

base with right arm extended straight down, palm outward and left hand

MIRROR |
And jewelry box combination with
original gilt and red and black painted finish, carved with foo lion bases to
the mirror posts with phoenix finials. Carved open work floral crest and base
of mirror with dovetailed base with relief carved floral sides, having 2 over
one dovetailed drawers with relief carved floral faces and carved foo lion
mask feet, circa mid to late 19th century, 13.75”wide
x 8”deep x 29”high. Many of the carved trim pieces are attached with wood
pegs. |
