scene. Signed lower right
"IKT: Regig, Sanur Bali". Provenance: Originally
from the estate of Harry E. Hoffman, (1924-2013) He graduated from Indiana
University with a B.A. degree, and began a tour with the US Air Force,
serving in the Signal Corps during WWII. Following his military career, Harry
joined the State Department, working in the Foreign service and purchased
much of his art collection during that time. He traveled around the world
extensively. Following his retirement from the Foreign Service, Harry retired
to Dillsboro in 1981. He was involved with the Contemporary Arts Center in
Cincinnati, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Indianapolis Art Museum. |

sight 6 7/8" x 5 3/4" etching. Titled "Bowl with Lemon". Signed and dated in pencil lower right
"Nobuo Sato '66", lower left in pencil "EP" and Japanese
characters. Born in 1926 in
Kanagawa, Japan. He is known for
his etchings and mezzotints. Member of the Japan Print Association. His works are in various museum
collections. Provenance: Originally from the estate of Harry E. Hoffman,
(1924-2013) He graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. degree, and
began a tour with the US Air Force, serving in the Signal Corps during WWII.

FINE TABWA AFRICAN CARVED

From the Congo region,
beautifully carved female figure with fine old patina, almost certainly 19th century, she has her arms to her sides,
knees slightly bent, standing on round pedestal, all carved from a single
piece of wood and an impressive 63”high. The Tabwa people are a small tribe
in the Upper regions of the former Belgian Congo. |

THREE OUTSTANDING WAX
FIGURES |
All of various eastern types
including a Hindu holy man in white robes with beads, plus an Iranian Muslim
cleric and a Iranian smoking a water pipe. All are in crossed leg position
with very detailed fabric costumes and real human hair. The wax detail on
faces, feet and hand is excellent, 20”and 17”high. The bodies are
papier-mache and made with newspaper with Arabic script, circa 1940s.
Possibly made in Pakistan or Iran. |
