1810-43, Midlothian, Scotland
with polychrome and gilt painted steel dial with Roman numerals, lunette
painted with seated Britannia with standing lion at coast with three masted
ship in background, spandrels with gilt and polychrome painted seashells, seconds
dial above and calendar dial below center with original tooled brass hands,
signed on face Thomas Pringle, Dalkeith. Brass English weight driven bell
strike movement with original weights and pendulum. Fine inlaid mahogany case
with bonnet having broken arch top with applied brass rosette terminals and
turned brass finials, tombstone door flanked by full fluted columns with cast
brass capitals and plinths, diamond cut-outs on sides and nice stepped cove
molding over door. Waist with arch top overlapping door with string inlay,
flanked by fluted quarter columns with turned capitals and plinths over oval
inlaid panel with string surround with nice ogee molding below and cove
molding above. Base with string inlaid front and chamfered molding at base,
all in original varnish finish, pine secondary wood, 18 1/2 x 9 1/4 x
86" high. |

West Yorkshire, England with
polychrome painted round steel dial with Roman numerals, circa 1820's with
painted birds of paradise perched on roses, seconds dial above and calendar
dial below center with original cut-out steel hands. Brass weight driven English
bell strike movement with original weights and pendulum. Case in oak and
mahogany with broken arch top with applied brass rosette terminals and linen
fold carved keystone central crest, tombstone topped door, flanked by turned
columns with cast brass capitals and plinths. Waist with overlapping door
with nice scroll cut top with mahogany cross banding, flanked by fluted
quarter columns with turned capitals and plinths and cove molding at top and
bottom. Base with satinwood inlaid seashell with two mahogany cross banded
surrounds, cut-out bracket foot, in original varnish finish, pine secondary
wood, 20 x 9 1/2 x 88" high. |

cut-out brass hands. Weight driven brass and iron movement with weights,
lacking pendulum with two exterior top mounted nested bells. Walnut case with
arched top and carved central plinth, over tombstone form door with doors on
each side, original wrought iron hanging hooks at top, 16 x 9 1/2 x 20

Base with matching corners as waiste and cut-out scrolled feet & apron,

brass dial with Roman numerals, raised silvered chapter ring, silvered arch
above phase of the moon lunette with engraved quote TIME SHEWS THE WAY OF
LIFES DECAY, world hemispheres below, applied silvered plate to dial below
center with W. Holliwell, Liverpool,spandrels with ornate cast bronze open
work scrolled floral motif, seconds dial above center, original cut steel
hands. Brass weight driven English bell strike movement with original weights
and pendulum rod (missing bob). Case in mahogany with enclosed broken arch
top with cast brass floral rosettes at terminals, central pediment with
downward curving carved leaf in claw like form, tombstone door with original
brass knob, flanked by full reeded columns with turned Ionic capitals and
pliths. Waist with scroll cut top overlapping door with thumb molded edge and
original brass key escutcheon, flanked y quarter columns matching those on
bonnet, cove molding above and ogee below. Base with raised thumb molded edge
panel, flanked by chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals at bottom,
over ogee bracket feet, pine secondary wood, in original varnish finish, 20

with period printed card inside back of waiste reading Thomas
Bennet,/Cabinetmaker & Upholsterer,/Oldmeldrum (village in northeastern
Scotland). Bonnet with broken arch top with turned domed rosette terminals,
tombstone door with original turned wood pull, flanked by full turned columns
with block capitals and plinths, glass side lights. Waist with bow front
overlapping door with thumb molded edge and half turned onion dome above,
flanked by half turned columns with scrolled panel above and raised diamond
on panel below, cove molding above and below. Base with Hepplewhite style
cut-out feet and apron, old cleaned varnish finish, pine secondary wood, 20

Steel dial with engraved Roman
numerals on silvered chapter ring with silvered disc in lunette with Winkel
Elberfeld with applied cast metal floral scroll work surround and in
spandrels. Brass weight driven English bell strike type movement with
original weights and pendulum, but town name suggests that this is a German
clock, while poplar case is certainly American circa 1825-50. Case in
refinished poplar (likely originally paint decorated) with flat topped bonnet
with tombstone door with original iron lock. Waist with overlapping tombstone
form door with tombstone glass light in center to view pendulum with cove
molding above and below. Base with simple cut-out Hepplewhite style
feet/apron, 22 3/4 x 10 1/2 x 88 3/4" high. |

door with cross banding and cock beaded edges, flanked by chamfered corners
with lambs tongue terminals, cove molding above and below. Base with simple
bracket, flat to the floor base, in original old dark varnish finish, pine
