polychrome painted and gilt
wooden dial with Roman numerals, oval floral in lunette with gilt wreath
surround, floral in spandrels, seconds dial above and calendar dial below
center with original cast pewter hands, signed on face L. Watson Cincinnati.
Wooden 30 hour weight drive movement, lacking weights and pendulum. Cherry
case with dovetailed broken arch topped bonnet with star burst carved
terminals and large central turned finial, tombstone door with original brass
pull, flanked by full turned columns, front and rear with turned capitals and
plinths. Waist with scroll topped overlapping door with cross banding and
thumb molded edge, flanked by chamfered corners with lambs tongue terminals,
cove molding above and below. Base with matching chamfered corners and nice
cut-out Hepplewhite style feet/apron, pine secondary wood, 18 1/2 x 10 1/4 x
96" high. |

Likely German with enameled dial
with Roman numerals, stamped brass surround with Gothic vine covered triple
columns with arch above and stamped silvered brass thrush eating vining
grapes above and two smaller silvered birds on branches below, with ebonized
wood surround. Black forest type brass time and strike weight driven movement
with original pendulum, lacking weights, all in original finish, 11 x 5 1/2 x

John Llyod, Brecon, Wales Inlaid Tall Case Clock |
Circa 1800, Brecon is a market
town in mid-Wales. Polychrome painted steel dial with Roman numerals,
Chinaman in garden in lunette and smaller versions of same in spandrels with
floral surrounds, seconds dial above and calendar aperture below center, signed
on face Jno. Llyod/Brecon, original engraved brass hands. Brass weight driven
English bell strike movement with original weights and pendulum. Case in
inlaid mahogany with broken arch topped bonnet with stamped brass floral
rosette terminals, central plinth with ebony string inlay, over satinwood and
ebony string inlaid front panel and sides, tombstone door with ebony string
inlay and original turned knob, flanked by ebonized full reeded columns with
cast brass capitals and plinths. Waist with overlapping door with matching
string inlay to above and thumb molded edge, original brass key escutcheon,
flanked by matching columns to bonnet with inlaid diamond above door and
feathered inlaid band above, cove molding above and ogee below. Base with
ebony inlaid square with canted corners on front, over cut-out bracket feet,
pine secondary, old likely original varnish finish, 21 1/4 x 10 1/4 x 83
1/2" high. |

Alloa is in the central lowlands
of Scotland. Polychrome painted steel dial with Roman numerals, two figures
in lunette, lady in renaissance dress standing in a boat on river and
gentleman in renaissance dress with sword on shore with forest background,
lunette painted with figures representing the four seasons, but unusually the
one for fall is a male, while the others are female, seconds dial above and
calendar dial below center, original engraved brass hands, signed on face as
above. Brass weight driven English bell strike movement with original weights
and pendulum. Case in mahogany with broken arch topped bonnet with turned
rosette terminals, tombstone door with turned pull, flanked by full turned
columns with turned capitals and plinths. Waist with bow front inset door
with cock beaded edge with nice shell carving above, flanked by turned
quarter columns with turned capitals and plinths, cove molding above and
below. Base with figured mahogany front and Hepplewhite style cut-out
feet/apron, in old likely original varnish finish, pine secondary wood, 20
1/2 x 10 1/4 x 84 1/4" high. |

base with fine highly figured mahogany panel, bordered with double satinwood
string inlay and mahogany cross banding between, over fine original ogee
bracket feet, old refinish with good color, 14 x 6 1/2 x 40 1/2" high. |

Circa 1800-10, Shelf clock with
round painted dial with Roman numerals, signed N. Munroe with original cut
steel hands. Black field below dial with polychrome painted floral swags.
Brass weight driven time only movement with weight and pendulum. Case in mahogany
with cove molded pediment with square fluted plinth topped with brass spiked
urn finial with cast brass spread winged eagle atop, over kidney form door
with stepped cove molding below. Base with highly figured crotch mahogany
front with two cross banded edges with smaller in bleached mahogany, over
fine ogee bracket feet, pine secondary wood, old refinish with good color, 13
1/4 x 6 3/4 x 35" high. The Munroe brothers were apprenticed to Simon
Willard in Boston. Daniel left first to Concord and was shortly followed by
his brothers Nathaniel and William. They were some of the first clock makers
in this town. |

Wisbech is a market town in
Cambridgeshire, England. Engraved square brass dial with Roman numerals on
raised silvered chapter ring, cast brass openwork floral with Minerva heads
in spandrels with engraved leaf surround, silvered seconds dial above and calendar
aperture below, engraved signature as above on bottom of chapter ring. Brass
weight driven English bell strike movement with original weights and
pendulum. Case in mahogany with flat stepped bonnet with square door with
attached 3/4 columns with gilt capitals and plinths and matching quarter
columns in rear. Waist with overlapping door with step molded edging and
original brass key escutcheon, cove molding above and below. Base with
cut-out bracket feet, pine secondary wood, 20 x 10 x 82 1/2" high. |
