Double Bird Musical Bird Cage |
With two real European songbirds
in large brass cage with key wind music box in base and embossed scrolled
floral design around bottom, circa 1920, marked on base "Made In
France" with patent number. This music box has three different settings.
Birds sing, head move back and forth, beak opens and tails move up and down
when operatingfor different bird songs, with original hanging ring and
key. 11" diameter x

Black Forest Marquetry Inlaid
Chair |
With piece carved back in the
form of entwined grape vines, leaves and fruit with flowers and geometric and
two oval inlaid panels, the larger of the two of a hunter retuning down a
mountain path with his wild mountain goat around his shoulders and his walking
stick in hand, hunting pouch and rifle across his back. The lower panel has
two mountain goats seated. The plank seat is also inlaid with three mountain
goats, both standing and seated with geometric surrounds. The scalloped seat
edges are carved in twig form and the legs are cabriol with acanthus carved
knees and hoof feet with carved "H" stretcher. 18 1/2" x 15" x
36" high with seat at 17 1/2". Circa 1880's. |

reverse thumb-molded top over two bow-front doors with iced glass panels and
mahogany cut-out stylized musical notations overlaid over glass opening to
reveal a most unusual interior with desk cubby holes, central drawer and
slid-out writing surface, over large single door with satinwood string inlay
and carved North Wind mask, opening to reveal 7 shelves for sheet music
