Outstanding Folk Art Wood &
Nut Carving |

1890-1910, found in Brown County, Ohio. This remarkable piece is a double
sided folk art frame in the form of a cross with four interior panels, each
with hand carved peach pits suspended from wire with 72 carved peach pits in
the form of flasks, ladies purse, jugs, baskets, turtles, buckets, teapots,
hearts, pitchers and more, many with relief carved details such as
horseshoes, hearts, flowers, animals and more, all in original gold painted
finish. The frame itself is wonderfully carved with whimsey ends including
free swing candle lanterns, and surmounted with a wonderfully detailed
carving of a two story Victorian home with man standing on porch, on a
stepped wood base, all in original gold painted finish and with original glass.
Base is 5 1/2" x 10", frame is 20" wide x 22" high, all
in wonderful untouched condition. |

Circa 1890-1910, found in Brown
County, Ohio. Wonderfully carved wood frame in original gold painted finish
with double sided glass covers with 7 rows of 8 carved and painted peach pits
in the forms of baskets, kettles, teapots, pitchers, flasks, jugs & more,
most with wonderful carved relief details such as people, animals, initial,
hearts, flowers, snakes and much more. 12 1/2" x 14 3/4" high. |
One peach pit has fallen loose,
but could easily be reatached to wire by removing cover glass, else Fine. |

knife, butcher knife, 2 different meat clevers, 3 different hatchets, mattox,
pick, butter scoop, rolling pin, tobacco pipe, pocket knife, 7 keys, 4
different saws, 2 different block plains, 2 different miniature people chain
with whistle, chain with whimsey house and more. All with wonderful detail,
and nearly all in original gold painted finish, circa 1890-1910, south in
Brown County, Ohio. Yarn winder
is 5 1/2" high |

with cork stoppers, each filled with a different type of colored sand or
mineral with glass covers. Carved with makers name "Wm Kurtz" with

Early Elisha Lemmon, Monroe County, Kentucky Stoneware Jar |
A large 10 gallon salt glaze double handle jar with blue 10 & lines on front and decorated handle. A very similar 8 gallon jar is shown on page 174 of Collecting Kentucky 1790-1860 by Genevieve Baird-Lacer & Libby Turner Howard. It is noted in the book that a similar grouping of jars were discovered in South Central Kentucky. There was a documented early pottery works in Monroe County, KY in the 1820 Manufacturer's Census for Kentucky and 1840 Manufacturer's Census for Kentucky. Elisha Lemmon of Monroe County is listed as a manufacturing potter. A very early example of Kentucky stoneware. 19 1/2" H x 13 1/2" W. |
