James Pollard (United Kingdom,
1792-1867) was known for his sporting genre and coaching scenes. This pair of
paintings is paper laid on linen with original inked manuscript titles on
back of frame, one reading, "The Black breasted Dark Red Champion Who
killed three in 2 minutes. Pollard No. 4 Collection 10." Fine painting of a fighting cock with
spurs at ankles, in original frame with original reverse painted and gilt
glass cover, 15" x 17". The second also has inked manuscript label
on reverse but top line worn, second line on reads, "Called the Bone
Crusher Pollard No. 4 Collection 10," same type of frame and size as
1st. Not removed from frames. |
