Wonderful KPM Lidded Punch Bowl |
With molded basket weave at lip,
and two large oval vignettes with gilt and floral surrounds. One vignette
shows group of 18th century gentlemen and one lady in parlor with documents
and large handbill. Second with scene of group of lawyers in room with
a fire breaking out in ceiling, and two watchmen attempting to put it out as
some of the lawyers panic and others appear to not even notice what is
happening. The domed lid also has two large vignettes with matching surround,
one with scene of seven 18th century gentlemen at table with large punch
bowl, who have obviously over indulged in the beverage at hand. Second
vignette shows a more sober group at table in a great hall being served by a
black moor sevant, and with letter being delivered at door, surmounted by a
fine putti figure with flask and beaker in hand. Marked on base with blue
underglaze sceper type KPM mark. 11 1/2" diameter x 15" high. |
