Civil War Dagger of Thomas
Snoddy 21 KY Infantry |
This dagger has a 4 1/2 inch
unmarked double edged steel blade with T form nickel guard and MOP grips
attached with nickel rivets, total length 8 1/2 inches. There is an inked
manuscript note attched reading "This knife was Thomas Snoddy's fathers.
Civil War. Christopher B. Snoddy was a private in the 21st Kentucky Infantry
Regiment and was in most of the major battles in the Western Theater,
including Stone River, the Atlanta Campaign and the battles following. |

portrait of Charles L. Russel in uniform with double breasted officers frock
coat with bird Col. Epaulets, with his kepi on draped table with officers
belt and plate and sword rig, mounted on a larger original card stock with
penciled inscription on reverse reading in part "Colonel Charles
Lawrence Russell Killed in the Battle of Roanoke Island, in the Civil War at
the age of 33..." He enlisted as 1st Lt. in 1861 in 2nd Ct. Infantry and
was promoted to Col. on 10-26-61 in the 10th Ct. Infantry. This was the first
battle of the Regiment and they lost their Colonel in it. |

Civil War CDV Photo Album |
Album from Cincinnati, Ohio with
25 albumen cdv and a few cdv sized tintype portraits including three Union
Civil War officers, two of which are identified. One is Capt. Joseph T.
Patton, who enlisted as a private in Co. K, 22nd OVI, was discharged for promotion
on 6-12-62 and appointed 2nd Lt. in Co. G 93rd OVI, 1st Lt. 11-14-62 and
Capt. 6-12-63 in Co. A, 93rd OVI. Was wounded three times at Chickamauga,
Stone River and Missionary Ridge and fought in the following other battles:
New Hope Church, Liberty Gap, Brown's Ferry, Charleston, Danbridge, Rocky
Faced Ridge, Resaca, Laurel Hill, Pine Mt., Kenesaw, Marietta, Chattahoocheer
River, Atlanta, Jonesboro, Columbia and Franklin. The other two officers
include one unidentified young officer, likely from the 93rd OVI and one in
civilian clothing idnetified on reverse as W.H. Warlin Bvt. Brig. Genl.
U.S.V., who i could not find in the records, with penciled note reading
"Return to Capt. J.T. Patton" on reverse. Most of the imprints are
from Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio in the album. |
Album very worn with loose
boards, photos are mostly Fine, including all three officers albumens. |
