Circa 1860 with the crest and
motto of the University on the front of the cup double ribbon handle with
leaf terminals, 5” high. Seton Hall University is a private Roman Catholic
university in South Orange, New Jersey. Founded in 1856 by Archbishop Roosevelt
Bayley. Seton is the oldest diocesan university in the United States. |

This circa 1790 3.5” x 2” high
hand painted Chinese export cup was owned by Commander Philip Stoneman, of
the U.S. Revenue Cutter “Revolution” and has his crest on front with “PS” in
center. This cup comes with an Ms. Note from The Dorothy G. Hale & Co.,
Chicago & London, dealer who sold it in the 1950’s. |

holding piglets and a politician looking over the fence. The painting is a commentary on the
government interfering with the "Boys Pig Club Program". The program was started to encourage
farm boys to raise pigs instead of cattle. Congress worked to discontinue the
club. |

Prentice". Prentice was born
in 1851 at Harrisburgh, New York. In the late 1880's, Prentice moved to Brooklyn, a center for artist's
of Trompe Loeil still lifes. Prentice's earliest still life is dated 1893. From then on, still lifes with fruits
- apples and plums were his favorites and his principal subjects. |
