braided wire wrapped leather grip, ricasso marked
"Ames/Sword/Co./Chicopec; Mass." with 30" blade etched with
patriotic motifs and "William Preston" on blade with nickel plated
steel scabbard with cast brass drag, throat and two carrying rings. 31 1/2" long. total length of sword is
35". 1st. Lt. William Preston
was one of two officers of that name in the Union Army. it is either the one from Co. K 1st.
Mass. heavy artillery, promoted to captain and wounded at Spotsylvania
Courthouse or 1st. Lt. from Co. A. 5th. Del. Infantry, promoted to Quarter
Master. Slight wear to leather
grip, otherwise fine. |

ID'D CIVIL WAR OHIO 7TH CAVALRY
FROCK COAT |
Which belonged to Major Augustus
Norton, with period inked inscription on inside liner of left arm near
shoulder reading "Maj. A. Norton/7th OV Cav.". This blue wool seven button double
breasted officer's frock coat has three shield breasted eagle cuff buttons
with "C" in shield as do the fourteen buttons on front and four on
split tail in rear. Green silk
lining and polished linen lining in sleeves. Norton enlisted as captain but was
soon promoted to Major in Nov. of 62. Regiment was drawn from SW Ohio, where Norton was from the Hocking
Hills area. Known as the River
Regiment their engagements included Carter's Station, Mt. Sterling, KY
Dutton's Hill, Mills Springs, Rocky Gap, pursued and cornered Morgan's
Cavalry through Ohio to Bluffington Island. Captured CSA garrison at Cumberland
Gap, second fight at Carter's Station, Tenn., Blue Springs, lost 112 men at
Rogersville, Siege of Knoxville, Bean's Station, New Market, Danbridge, Fair
Garden, fought and defeated Morgan's Cavalry again near Cynthiana, KY.,
Franklin, Tenn., City Gate and Nashville. This cavalry unit saw some very heavy
fighting throughout the war with 560 casualties in the regiment. A very few small moth holes and light
wear at collar. One of the finest
we have seen. |

MARKINGS |
This modified McClellan U.S. Army saddle has wooden stirrups with leather covers and oval brass "CSA" plates attached with pins through leather. One wood stirrup incised initials "DS". Saddle has leather carbine holster, period saddle bags and an additional tooled leather seat covering the open center of the McClellan. Expected wear but overall good condition. |

John Gibson, 161st. N.Y. infantry with attached brass plaque reading
"John Gibson/1st. Lieut. Co. A/161st. Regt. N.Y." in uniform. Lt. Gibson was wounded in action at Sabine
Crossroads, LA. The 161st. had an
honorable battle record with their first engagement with the Dept. of the
Gulf at Clinton Plank Road, Plains store and the long siege of Ft. Hudson. Later engagement at Donaldsonville,
LA. Sabine Crossroads, Pleasant Hill, Cane River Crossing and Mansura. Gen. Canby's operations against Ft.
Blakely, Spanish Ft. and Mobile. Fine condition. Framed 19" x 24". |

CIVIL WAR PHOTO ALBUM |
With unpublished photo of Gen.
Daniel McCoy of the 24th & 175th Ohio Infantry. This cdv album has 48 albumen and
tintype images and one 9th plate cased image. Was found in Highland County, Ohio
where McCoy was born. The albumen
cdv image of Daniel is in his sergeants uniform with back mark of R.E. Weeks,
Sandusky, Ohio with period inked inscription on back "Gen. D. McCoy 24th
O.V.A.". The cased image is
also of Daniel and an ambrotype. McCoy enlisted as a Sergeant in June of 61 in Co. I. 24th O.V.I. was
promoted quickly and often, 2nd Lieutenant 7-13-62, 1st Lieutenant 5-1-63,
Capt. 4-21-64, Lt. Colonel 9-14-64 in 175th O.V.I., Brig-Gen. 3-13-65 by
Brevet and Colonel 6-6-65. Wounded on Sept. 20th 1863 at Chickamauga. During his stint with the 24th, he saw
action at Shiloh, Stone River where 1/4th of its men were lost, Chickamauga,
Lookout Mt. and other lesser battles. While in the 175th saw action at Franklin and Nashville against
Hood. Both images of McCoy are
clean and very good. |

Maple with original brass end caps with carved inscription, reading "Va's Long 1860 to N.H. Long Muncie, Ind. Williams Post 78 G.A.R.". 14 1/2" long with fine old polished patina. Nathan Hale Long great-grandfather of M.K. Hogemann. Fife was given to him by his father James in Muncie. Nathan was a private in Co. A. 134th Indiana Infantry. The 134th were used to guard Sherman's supply and communication lines along the Memphis & Charlestown, Nashville & Chattanooga and Tennessee & Alabama railroads and often fought off guerillas in the area. Excellent condition. |

DAF THIRD REICH NAZI'S PHOTO
ALBUM W/ALBERT SPEER |
With thirty-five 4 1/2" x 7" silver print photographs of the funeral of one of the high ranking members of the Nazi's labor organization known as the DAF. This organization was formed after the Nazi party took control of the German government and outlawed and seized all the assets of all the labor unions in the country. The organization forced all union members to join the DAF and controlled who was eligible for the military draft early in the war. The DAF (German Labor Front) was headed by Dr. Robert Ley, who committed suicide while awaiting trial for war crimes in 1945. The first photo in the album shows leading Nazi Albert Speer in the center of the image, looking down at cart for coffin. Speer, was one of the principal architects of the Third Reich. Album shows both civilian and military leaders attending the funeral, as well as large military escort, and band following the casket to the cemetery. All with cello corner tabs holding photos in a card stock album with rice paper dividers. Several photos with DAF flag which had Nazi's swastika and machine gear wheel. Photo excellent, album with minor wear. |
