A well executed free hand watercolor on paper with central tomb that reads, "In Memory of Mr. Asa Phelps Who Died January 16th 1820, Aged 29 Years". Lady of hope on one side of tomb and widowed wife dressed in black on the other. A church and two homes are in the background. Original tenon construction frame. Found in Southern Ohio. In brown stoneware with incised railroad map covering most of the pigs body. Made by Anna Pottery in Illinois, Circa 1880's, owned by Wallace & Cornwall Kirkpatrick. Some of the incised inscriptions include "Cincinnati the Ancient Porkopolis", "Chicago The Corn Mart of the World", "Latest and Most Reliable Railroad & River Guide by Anna Pottery Anna Ills", "St. Louis the Future Capital", "Anna the Jug City". There are approximately 19 engraved railroad and river inscriptions. Small chip on left ear and underside of rear foot. 8" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" high . |
