Nice large oil on canvas of
Dutch interior scene by Frederick Carl Smith (1868-1955 CA/District of
Coulubia/Ohio/Norway). Frederick Carl Smith was born in Cincinnati and
studied at the Cincinnati Art School, the Ohio Mechanics Institute, and the
Academie Julian in Paris with Bougereau, Ferrier, and Constant. For 17 years
he worked in Washington DC and then moved to Pasedena, CA in 1917. There he
was active in the Laguna Beach art community, and a founding member of the
Art Association. This painting descended directly from the artist's family.
