Early Slant Front Desk With
Cotter Pin Hinges |
Slant lit with original cotter pin
hinges over two overlapping dovetailed drawers with thumb-molded edges, over
two paneled doors with original cotter pin hinges, on nice scroll cut-out
bracket feet. Interior with
lantern well with cubby hole over one dovetailed drawer. Cubby hole slides out to reveal two
hidden drawers, flanked by two document drawers with half turned column
fronts, flanked by three pidgeon holes over two over one dovetailed
drawers. Top of case
dovetailed,cherry and pine case, pine secondary wood, original period batwing
brass pulls with bale handles and period brass knobs. Early wooden pegged back and
construction. A very early
desk. 12.25" deep x 39"

In white pine with nice scroll
cut-out end posts, central stretcher with removable locking pins, heavy
cut-out shoe feet, three board top and, most unusual, two removable shelves
mounted along each side of central stretcher for drinks, all in old brown stained
finish. Top has dovetailed board
on underside holding all three boards together. 29" wide x 100.5" long x

Rare Double Compartment Domed Trunk |
Very rare double compartment
trunk in pine wood, with original metal strapping and brass and iron hardware
with uppper brass lock stamped, "Patd May 64/Patd May 66," and
"Hebrick Hillebrand & Wolf Philda," and tow lock stamped, "Patented Feb. 26,
1867." Interior with
original wallpaper lining and oval medallions with gilt gusts of classical
ladies, top section with drop
down hinged tray in lid with three lidded compartments and gilt embossed
leather document pocket attached to underside. Bottom compartment with three
fine Victorian chromolithographs of Victorian lady flanked by two of Goddess
Athena in armour. 19" deep x
30.5" wide x 26" high. |
Exterior refinished, leather
straps and buckles detached but some are present, interior with minor wear. Very good condition. |

Edwin L. Fulwider (Ohio/Indiana)
Quadtych Oil Paintings |
Edwin L. Fulwider (Ohio/Indiana
1913-2003) mid-century modern quadtych grouping of oil on canvas on
board. Measurements in the
grouping, 14" x 36", 9" x 20", 16" x 48", and
9" x 6". Each is
signed, "Edwin Fulwider," lower right. A painter, printmaker, educator, and
designer, he was born in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1933, he spent time with Thomas
Hart Benton while Benton was working on a large mural for the Chicago World's
Fair. He was an instructor of
drawing, painting and graphic art in The School of Fine Arts at Miami
University, Oxford, Ohio, and from 1949 to 1973, was professor of the art
department, serving as chairman of the department from 1963 to 1968. He retired from Miami University in
1973. He was Supervisor of
Technical Publication at Wright-Patterson Field, Dayton, Ohio during
WWII. He received the Milliken
Traveling Fellowship for Travel in 1936, and the following he visited
England, Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Italy. He was the recipient of 22 awards,
with several exhibitions and one man shows. His works are included in
numerousmuseums and corporate art collections. Accompanying this grouping is a copy
of thr original photo of Fulwider's original positioning of each painting in
it's most aesthetically pleasing position for overall pleasure of the
artwork, and the original owner who commissioned this work. Wonderful mi-century modern quadtych
with each canvas flowing seamlessly together. Exceptional quadtych oil
paintings being from the original owner, who commissioned Fulwider to paint
and position the artwork himself. |
