William Daniels (United Kingdom)
Watercolor Painting: |
William Daniels (United Kingdom
1813-1880) 9" H x 7" W watercolor of a lovely lady in a blue

identified in verso as A.? Daniels, also signed in pencil on verso, "By
W. Daniels." William Daniels
made his first public appearance at the Liverpool Academy Exhibition when he
was about 17 years old. He did
many portraits and the one anxiety of sitters was to catch him in a good
mood. , for when his temper flared, he would partly complete a painting or
daub it with aimless strokes. Some would leave the money on the mantle so the painting would go
on. He was said to be the
Rembrandt of Liverpool. |
