"Sketch No. 1 Carnival Rehearsal" lower left and signed in the work
"Austin S. Hogan '46" and on the matt lower right. An interesting depiction of a circus ring with horses, trainer
and performers. Done in pencil on graphite on brown paper. Austin S. Hogan is
well known in American fly fishing circles as an illustrator of fish,
fisherman and detailed drawings of fishing flies. he was also the first president and
director of the American Museum of Fly Fishing, W. Manchester, Vermont. |
