print. 14 x 26 photo-lithograph
reproduction of Farny's most well known painting "The Song of the
Talking Wire". The painting
done in 1904, was conceived when Farny visited Fort Yates in the Dakota
Territory. He is said to have
observed an Indian named "Long Day" listen to the telegraph pole so
he could hear the spirits talking. Farny foresaw the end of Indian culture as seen in the cold fading
light, the bison skull and the horse looking off to the distance. |

Austin S. Hogan (Vermont/New
Hampshire) 10" x 13" mid-20th Century pencil drawing titled
"Carnival Sketch #3" lower left on the matt and signed lower right
on the work "Hogan 46" and on the matt "Austin S. Hogan '46". An interesting depiction of a circus
ring with horses, trainer and performers. Done in pencil on graphite on brown
paper. Austin S. Hogan is well
known in American fly fishing circles as an illustrator of fish, fisherman
and detailed drawings of fishing flies. he was also the first president and director of the American Museum of
Fly Fishing, W. Manchester, Vermont. |
