ARTS & CRAFTS WROUGHT IRON
FIREPLACE SET |
Including a pair of andirons,
tool stand with 4 fireplace tools, and fire screen all in hand hammered
finish with ball finials. The andirons have a flower form finial facing
forward with ball from flower center surrounded by four nicely detailed
flower pedals, attached to a scrolled and tapered column, which is split to
form the legs with squared feet, attached to firedogs with large round headed
rivet driven through base of column into front of firedogs, with applied
scrolls below and spilt holder above with ball terminal. 12 x 24 x 28”high. The tool
stand has larger rectangular base pan tapered column with “C” scrolled arms
for holding tools, 9.5 x 7 x 30.5”high and holds a matching coal shovel, log
tongs, brush and long poker with stop rattail turned shaft. The four panel
matching wrought iron fire screen has bale handles at top, 48 x 31”high when
fully open. |

Edna Boies Hopkins
(Michigan/Ohio/New York/Massachusetts/Paris, 1872-1937)12" high x
10.5" wide wood block print, titled "Trumpet Vine." Pencil signed lower left "Edna
Boies Hopkins," and pencil numbered 3. Born in Michigan, Hopkins
attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati 1895 to 1898. While there she met James Roy Hopkins
whom she later married. She also
took classes with Arthur Wesley Dow. She moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts and became a founding member
of the Provincetown Printers. Some of her strongest work was produced in the late teens in the
Cumberland Falls region of Kentucky. Her work is included in most important collections of American prints. |
