L. Fulwider (Ohio/Indiana 1913-2003)
a painter, printmaker, educator, and designer, was born in Bloomington,
Indiana. During the Chicago
Worlds Fair of 1933 he spent time
with Thomas Hart Benton while Benton was working on a large mural for the
fair. Was an instructor of drawing, painting and graphic art at Miami
University, Oxford, Ohio 1949-73 and served as the chairman of the
department. Received 22 awards and several exhibition and his work is part of
the collection of many museums & corporate collection. |

With a tiered central column
with hanging prisms and two arms protruding from center to each supporting
glass fount, on and off switch on column, marked, "Manufactured by H.N.
Hooper & Co., Boston." 16" H x 16 1/2" W. Old gold paint over brass. Henry Northy Hooper was an apprentice of Paul Revere in the latter's
Boston foundry. He later
purchased the foundry and established Henry N. Hooper & Co. to produce
lamps and lighting fixtures, and by 1862, artillery for the Union Army during
the Civil War. |

Model 22, gimble mounted brass
with silvered dial with Arabic numerals, marked "Hamilton Lancaster, P.,
U.S.A." on dial with bevel stamped "8109", mounted in mahogany
box with inner glass cover and printed cello label on interior and two
stamped brass labels on exterior reading "Hamilton Watch Co./Lancaster,
Pa., U.S.A." and "N" in circle followed by
"8109-1941", with push button release lid, ^" square &
high. This box is mounted in a fitted wood case with felt liner with matching
stamped brass label, 8 1/4" square x 7 1/2" high. Almost certainly
made for the U.S.N. and used during WWII. |

enameled dial with Roman numerals, brass time only spring driven movement,
numbered "1676" on movement, else unmarked, except original key is
stamped "France". Case with flat fluted columned front with engraved
stylized floral capitals and plinths, gallery top with reeded swing bale
handle, scrolled aprons with engraved geometric designs on bun feet, beveled
glass side panels, and door in rear. 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 6 1/4" high. |

center of dial and two rear finials on gallery bent, else Fine |
