Penn. Chippendale Chest |
In mahogany circa 1770-80 with
stepped & thumb molded overhanging top over four overlapping graduated
dovetailed drawers with period, likely original brass bale handles and
escutcheons, fluted quarter columns with turned capital and plinth, ogee bracket
feet, solid ends and poplar secondary wood, 18 1/2" x 40 3/4" x 35
3/4" high. The back of the hunt board has three panels with the two end
panels behind the quarter drum form ends mounted on a pivot to allow items to
be hidden in the drums, likely for the good spirits the owner did not wish to
share with his friends. |

with lambs tongue terminals on upper and lower part of case, original brass
knobs on doors, poplar secondary wood. Lower part with two shelves in green

crotch grained veneered fronts and fine original brass knobs and key hole
escutcheons. Four lower drawers flanked by full turned columns, solid ends
