Slot cut into top for use as a
bank or ballot box in the 19th century, one lock missing, and paint is circa

Unusual Shaker Candlestand |
Cherry with round walnut top
with triangular column that slots into base, with threaded wood set screw for
adjusting height of top, three splay turned legs. Unusual top that has
keystone board on underside, that is slotted into beveled boards mounted to underside.
This allows the top with attached column to be removed. Traces of old white
over green paint on underside, circa 1850 and attributed to Pleasant Hill,
Ky. community, 24" diameter x 27" high when top is fully lowered.,
column would allow the top to be raised 12 more inches or 39". |
Old round head screwws at top of
legs, nice old finish. |
