2 1/8" gold filled badge that is inscribed W.O. Briggs Commisioner
City of Detroit in blue enamel. Walter Owens Briggs Sr. was part-owner of the Detroit Tigers in
from 1919 to 1935, and then sole owner from 1935 to his death in 1952. The
Tigers home (Briggs Stadium) was named after him from 1938 until 1960.
Inscribed on back - Appointed Sept. 1924. Also has makers mark -Weyhing
Detroit Filled. |

Cash Register in Dayton Ohio, refers to producing Stengel's Life story. Casey
also writes in the letter "I will mail him my next Yankee Hall of Fame
Base-ball next hall of Fame Dinner. The letter is written on Stengel's
personal Cooperstown Letterhead. There is also an autographed Casy Stengel
photo in Yankees uniform. Both are nicely framed in 13" x 18" frame |
