ALBERT-ERNEST CARRIER-BELLEUSE BRONZE STATUES |
Two fine bronze statues. One being "Rembrandt" and the other "Albert Durrer". Each signed "A. Carrier". Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887) is the name used by this French sculptor, after initially signing his works "A. Carrier". He was one of the most prolific and versatile sculptors of the 19th century. He was a designer for Minton China Works, Wedgewood and other companies. His marble Messiah was purchased by the State from the Salon of 1867 and allotted to Saint Vincent-de-Paul in Paris; it earned him a medal of honor and the cross of the Legion of d'Honneur.
