Charles C. Svendsen (Cincinnati, Ohio, 1871-1959) 12 1/2" x 16" oil on canvas. Signed and titled on back with label reads as "Thrashing - Flood, Nazareth,, Palestine by Charles C. Svendsen". Charles C. Svendsen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy under Thomas Noble. He was also a pupil of Bouguereau and Ferrier in the Academy Julian and Academy Colarossi in Paris. He was the first artist to receive distinction of being represented at the Chicago's Vanderpoel Memorial Museum. In 1898, he toured Egypt and Palestine. His works can be found in the Cincinnati Art Museum and many other museums and collections across the U.S.. Listed in Davenports, Fieldings, Malletts, Who's Who, etc. Fine condition.
