Unusual Stoneware Butter Tub |
White glaze with stenciled
cobalt "Reid, Murdock & Co. Chicago, New York, Boston,
Pittsburgh" on each side. This piece has a wide central band extending
out from body, forming a lip so the tub can be set in tub of ice to keep
cool. The most unusual part of it is the beveled hexagonal plate glass lid
attached with a bronze hinged bar. 15" diameter x 8 1/2" high. |

Lodge |
African American folk art with
hand painted newspaper on table with likely artist signature and title of
work "Henerson Glad." Diorama is primarily wooden construction with
11 hand carved and painted African American men, including young men, middle
aged and elderly all on the interior of a primative two story hunting lodge
with wood burning fireplace, oil lamps, various articles of furniture and
other items such as rifles over fireplace, mounted buck head, duck decoy,
radio and much, much more. Two of the gentlemen and their dog have just
returned from the hunt with a large buck, both with rifles, others are at
table or by fireplace, others on 2nd story and ready for bed. Inked
inscription on roof "Made In Canada." 33" x 11 1/2" x 18"
high. |
