FREDERICK SERGER (WOODSTOCK, NY) OIL PAINTING |
Frederick Serger (Woodstock, New York, 1889-1965) 24" x 29" oil on canvas of landscape with mother and child. Signed lower left "Serger". Frederick Serger was born in Ivanice in the Czechoslovakian Province of Moravia. He studied at art schools in Brunn, Vienna, Munich and Paris. He married Helen Spitzer in 1927. They moved to London, Panama, Mexico and Guatemala before reaching New York in 1941. Serger settled on West 57th St. in New York and bought a summer house in Woodstock. He exhibited at shows in San Francisco, Santa Fe, Springfield, New Orleans, Pittsburg, Hartford, etc. His paintings can be found in several museums and private collections. Fine condition.
