William McKendree Snyder (Madison, Indiana, 1848-1930) 8" x 16" oil on canvas of a winter landscape scene of beech trees. Signed lower right "W.M. Snyder" and dated "1904". William Snyder was one of the earliest artist to paint in Brown County, Indiana in the 1870's. He settled in Madison, Indiana, where he specialized in forest and beech trees. He studied in Cincinnati, New York and Philadelphia. One of Indiana's premier artists. Wear to paint throughout, chips of paint missing on all of bottom edge of painting, two small holes. As is.
