95A Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier Watercolor of Napoleon A fine pen and ink with watercolor of Napoleon on horseback by well listed artist Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier (1815-1891) This artwork is similar to Meissonier's famous painting of Napoleon on horseback. Jean Meissonier born in Lyon was the most famous and successful painter of the 19th century.  He represented the conservatism of the French Academy, the force defied by impressionists who led the modernism.   His paintings brought very high prices and he spent lavishly on personal possessions. He was awarded 3 times the Grand Medal of Honor, which was unprecendented and in 1889 he received the Grand Cross which was the highest honor of the Legion Honor , this was the first time this award was given to an artist. His favorite painting subject was Emperor Napolean. signed and dated 1863, lower right, 13 x 10 inches Fine Condition 1000 1500

111 Outstanding Standing Rooster Weather Vane Outstanding Standing Rooster Weather Vane In original gilt finish, a wonderful stamped holow bodies copper figural vane in the form of a proud standing rooster with uplifted tail feathers, highly detailed body and tail feathers, cast zinc lower legs, mounted on period cast iron directionals with two gilt balls on shaft. Rooster is 22 inches high x 12 inches long, total high is 80 inches. Expected wear to gilt and minor oxidation on iron, Very Good. 1000 2000
