OVANES BERBERIAN (CALIFORNIA) OIL PAINTING Ovanes Berberian (California, 1951- ) 12" x 16" oil on board, titled "The Approaching Storm". Signed lower left "Ovanes Berberian". Ovanes Berberian was born in Russia and received much of his art education from his father who was an important Russian artist and a member of the Armenian Artists Society. In 1977, he immigrated to the United States, settling in California. In 1981, he was awarded a scholarship and studied with Sergei Bongart. Ovanes is one of the shining stars in American art. His paintings can be found in numerous collections including The Forsythe Group, Jack Nicklaus, Doris Mendenhall and Palm Springs designer, Steve Chase. Listed in Davenports, etc. Fine condition. Dixon was born in New York City, where he spent his entire career, except during 1915-17 when he lived in Los Angeles. He studied with Robert Henri and Charles Hawthorne. THOMAS CORWIN LINDSAY (CINCINNATI, OH) OIL PAINTING Thomas Corwin Lindsay (Cincinnati, Ohio, 1845-1907) 19" x 33" oil on canvas of a landscape with mill scene. Signed lower right "T.C. Lindsay". Thomas Corwin Lindsay, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, was a well known painter of landscapes, animal subjects, and occasional portraits. He was a founding member of the Cincinnati Art Club. He exhibited at the Cincinnati Industrial Exposition from 1870-83, Pogue's in 1875, and the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois in 1896. His works are in the collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
