Pewter Inlaid Clock |
Copper, pewter & wood inlay
probably designed by Harvey Ellis prior to starting with Gustav
Stickley. In 1897, Harvey Ellis
was one of the founders of the Rochester Arts & Crafts Society, one of
the first such organizations in the country. He began working for Gustav Stickley
in the later half of 1903. The
same designed inlay is seen on several Gustav Stickley, Harvey Ellis designed
pieces. This mahogany clock case,
circa 1900, has claw feet, and resembles the beginning of
the Arts & Crafts movement in the United States. Clock works made by the New Haven
Clock Company with porcelain dial. 12 1/2" H x 17 1/2" W x 8" D. |
