Frank A. Barney (Auburn, New York, 1862-1954) 12" x 16" oil on board of landscape with lake scene. Signed lower left "F.A. Barney". Pencil on back of frame, "Auburn, N.Y., 1944". Frank Barney was born in Union Springs, New York. In 1886, he moved to New York City and was a student in the Arts Student League. In 1889, he studied at William Merrit's Post. In 1895, he traveled to Paris to study. Barney moved to Auburn, New York, permanently in 1907. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club. He became known as the "Dean of Auburn Artist". His works are in the Syracuse Museum of Fine Art and the Binghamton Museum of Art. He is listed in
